Questions & Answers
Which flange gasket type should I use?
Full-face gaskets suit flat-face flanges and low pressures; ring gaskets suit raised-face flanges; spiral-wound gaskets with an inner and outer ring are the standard choice for higher pressures and temperatures. Ring-joint gaskets are used with RTJ flanges. Standards are ASME B16.20, B16.21 and EN 1514.
What is a spiral-wound gasket made of?
Alternating layers of a metal winding strip, usually stainless steel, and a soft filler such as graphite or PTFE, held by a centring ring and often an inner ring. The metal gives resilience under bolt load while the filler seals.
What type do you supply for gaskets?
Full-face / ring / spiral-wound. Other sizes can usually be supplied on request — send your requirement for confirmation.
What materials are offered?
NBR, EPDM, PTFE, graphite, CAF.
