Questions & Answers

What is a buttweld pipe elbow?

A buttweld elbow is a fitting that changes pipe direction by 90° or 45° and is welded directly to the pipe with a bevelled joint. Dimensions follow ASME B16.9 or EN 10253-2 and the usual carbon steel grade is ASTM A234 WPB.

What is the difference between a long radius and short radius elbow?

A long radius (LR) elbow has a centreline radius of 1.5 times the nominal pipe diameter; a short radius (SR) elbow has a radius equal to the nominal diameter. LR is the default because it causes less pressure drop and turbulence; SR is used where space is tight.

What size range do you supply for pipe elbows?

½″–24″ NPS/DN15–600. Other sizes can usually be supplied on request — send your requirement for confirmation.

Which standards and grades are available?

ASME B16.9 / A234: WPA · WPB · EN 10253-2: P235 · P265 · S235 · S265 · DIN 2605: St35.8 · St37 · St44. See the datasheet for the complete list.

What materials are offered?

A234 WPA · WPB; P235/P265.

Is a technical datasheet available?

Yes — the official YTM Pipe datasheet with dimensions, materials and standards can be downloaded on this page.
