What is a pipe repair coupling?
A repair coupling - also called a repair clamp - is a stainless steel band wrapped around a damaged or plain-ended pipe and bolted closed over an elastomer gasket. It seals leaks and joins pipe without welding, threading or cutting out the damaged section, and suits water, air, fuel, gas and chemical lines.
How do I select the right repair coupling size?
Measure the pipe outside diameter and pick the range that contains it - each coupling covers a 12 mm window, e.g. OD 219 mm falls in the 208-220 range. Sizes run from 148 mm to 1300 mm, and custom or oversized diameters are available on request.
What pressure can the coupling hold?
Up to 24 bar (348 psi) for the smallest ranges, stepping to 16, 12 and 10 bar as diameter grows - the dimension chart lists the rating for every range.
Which gasket should I choose for my medium?
EPDM for water, air and some chemicals (-20 to +100 C); NBR for fuel, gas and hydrocarbons (-20 to +80 C); Viton for wide chemical resistance (-40 to +220 C); Silicone for drinking and domestic water (-55 to +200 C).
Does installation require welding or special tools?
No welding at all. The coupling wraps around the pipe and tightens with standard bolts to the torque in the chart (40-165 N.m depending on size), which is what makes it fast for both new connections and live repairs.
Can it join pipes that are misaligned or of different diameters?
Yes - it accommodates misalignment, gaps between pipe ends, angular deflection, axial movement, small diameter differences and crack repair on a continuous pipe.
What materials and certificates are supplied?
Body and armour sheet in stainless AISI 304 or 316, bolts in AISI 304/316 or 12.9 steel, brass washers. EN 10204 3.1 material certificates are supplied, and YTM Pipe operates an ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
