Questions & Answers

What is cold-drawn seamless tube?

Cold-drawn seamless (CDS) tube is a seamless tube drawn through a die at room temperature, which gives close dimensional tolerances, a smooth bright surface and improved mechanical properties. It is used for heat exchangers, hydraulic cylinders and precision mechanical work, typically to ASTM A179 or EN 10305-1.

What is the difference between hot-rolled and cold-drawn seamless?

Hot-rolled seamless is formed at high temperature and suits structural and pressure piping with standard tolerances. Cold-drawn seamless is finished cold, giving much tighter diameter and wall tolerances plus a bright surface — required for heat-exchanger and precision applications.

What outside ø · ⅛″–6″ do you supply for cold-drawn seamless pipes?

4–168 mm. Other sizes can usually be supplied on request — send your requirement for confirmation.

Which standards and grades are available?

ASTM A179: Low-carbon cold-drawn — heat-exchanger & condenser tube · ASTM A192: Seamless carbon-steel boiler tube — high pressure · ASTM A210: Grade A-1 · Grade C — superheater & boiler tube. See the datasheet for the complete list.

What materials are offered?

E235 · E355 (EN 10305-1) · 1020 / 4130 (ASTM A519).

Is a technical datasheet available?

Yes — the official YTM Pipe datasheet with dimensions, materials and standards can be downloaded on this page.
